Introduction
The first government of President Sebastián Piñera Echenique took place in Chile between March 2010 and March 2014. In the 2009 presidential elections, Sebastián Piñera (of the Coalition for Change "Alliance (Chile)") triumphed over the candidate Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle (of the Concertación), with the right-wing politician being the successor in command of the country at the end of Michelle Bachelet's presidency.
Sebastián Piñera takes office in the National Congress on March 11, 2010, in the middle of a convulsive ceremony marked by the Pichilemu earthquake of 2010, after the earthquake of February 27, 2010.

Bicentennial change of command ceremony
The change of command for the bicentennial took place on March 11, 2010, in the Hall of Honor of the National Congress, at 12 noon. Although it was the most austere change of command ceremony (due to the recent earthquake that affected the country) since the swearing-in of Juan Antonio Ríos in 1941, which he had to quickly assume due to the death of Pedro Aguirre Cerda,[1] it was attended by multiple international delegations.[2][3][4][5] The ceremony was marked by a new 6.9 magnitude earthquake that took place at 11:39 (UTC-3) and its successive replicas.
The person in charge of presiding over the ceremony was the president of the Senate, Jorge Pizarro, whose election as such was corroborated hours before the change of command.
On this occasion, Sebastián Piñera swore, unlike his two predecessors, that because they were both agnostics they promised.[6]
In addition, all incoming ministers were sworn in at the same time, unlike previous changes of command, in which each minister was sworn in independently.[6].
