Introduction
An online store (also known as online store*, virtual store or electronic store) refers to a type of commerce that uses a website or an Internet-connected application as the main means of carrying out its transactions. It is the main tool of electronic commerce.
Sellers of products and services make available to their customers a web page (or computer application) where they can see images of the products, read their specifications and, finally, purchase them. This service gives the customer speed in purchasing, the possibility of doing so from anywhere in the world and at any time of the day. Some online stores include user manuals on the product page itself so that the customer can have an idea in advance of what they are purchasing. Likewise, many online stores offer buyers the ability to rate and evaluate the product. These evaluations can be carried out through the page itself or through third-party applications, always being visible to any visitor to the website.
Typically, these products are paid for, using a point-of-sale terminal, by credit card, payment services such as PayPal and Cash Payment, and subsequently sent to the customer by mail or transport agency, although depending on the country and the store there may be other options, such as picking up in the store, bank transfer or cash on delivery (payment at destination upon receipt of the order). The latter usually has a commission associated with it in most online stores that offer it. More current alternative payment methods are also usually offered, such as direct bank transfer offered by the Sofort or Trustly solutions, as well as systems that allow payments to be made in installments such as Pagamastarde or Aplazame (from the Wizink group).
The vast majority of online stores require the creation of a user on the website using data such as name, address and email. The latter is sometimes used as a means of validation.
