Digital Meeting Platforms
Introduction
A videoconference or video call[1] is simultaneous two-way audio and video communication, which allows meetings to be held with groups of people located in places far from each other. Likewise, telematic or other facilities may be offered such as the exchange of graphics, still images, transmission of "Archive (informatics)" files from the computer, etc.
It is an interactive system that allows several users to maintain a virtual conversation through real-time transmission of video, sound and text over the Internet.
In a videoconference, the different parties can intervene bidirectionally, symmetrically and simultaneously (Duplex mode), which turns all participants into potential receivers and senders, enabling communicative interaction between people who are in different geographical locations as if they were at the same meeting point.[2].
The basic elements to carry out a video conference are: the hardware, necessary to transmit audio and video over the Internet (microphone, camera, headphones or speakers, etc.) and the software through which the video conference will be developed (digital tool or platform to make video calls and video conference room enabled by administrators).[3].
Definition
It is a synchronous multimedia technology that, through real-time digital compression of audio, data and video streams, allows two or more interlocutors to communicate simultaneously, regardless of their geographical position. The term videoconference is also used to refer to the call itself through which the interlocutors themselves communicate.[4].
The implementation of videoconferencing provides important benefits, such as collaborative work between geographically distant people and greater interaction between some work or study groups.[2].
This allows you to hold meetings with groups of people located in places far from each other, allowing the exchange of graphic information, images, the transfer of files, video, voice, allowing you to share a computer desktop, make presentations, etc.
Technical limitations, such as poor sound, poor image quality, unreliability, complexity and cost, have been left behind, giving rise to high-quality video conferencing with audio, video, file transfer and at a cost that is more than accessible to most interested parties.
Videoconferencing offers an accessible solution to the need for communication, with systems that allow the transmission and reception of visual and sound information between different points or areas, thus avoiding the expenses and loss of time involved in the physical transfer of the person.
