cultural tourism architecture
Introduction
Cultural tourism is a tourism practice that highlights the cultural aspects, in its different areas, that a certain tourist destination offers. It forms one of the main modalities of tourism, along with sun and beach tourism, active tourism, leisure tourism and event tourism, in addition to other specific modalities, such as health tourism or hunting tourism.
Cultural tourism encompasses trips made to learn about cultural aspects, from historical to artistic, of different destinations, cultures and people.[3] From a broader perspective, it advocates the preservation of customs, narratives, representations and institutions of local communities, while promoting interest in the other.[4] Some authors maintain that its origin dates back to museology, on the one hand, and the need to preserve indigenous folklore, on the other. another.[5][6].

Critical position
In recent years, some authors have emphasized the negative nature of cultural tourism which, far from emancipating the community it seeks to protect, subjugates it to local investment, thus creating economic dependency.[11] Likewise, cultural tourism contains potential labels and stereotypes from the European colonial process.[12] There is sufficient evidence to prove that ethnic and cultural projects in certain contexts of political instability promote a constant state of conflict.[13].
