Cultural centers
Introduction
Cultural center or culture establishment, and sometimes cultural center for community elders, is designated as a place in a community intended to maintain activities that promote culture among its inhabitants.
Some cultural centers[1] have libraries, workshops, courses and other activities that are generally free or at affordable prices for the community. These types of venues are of great importance for the preservation of local culture, especially in rural communities that lack theaters, cinemas or concert halls. Although also in large cities, cultural centers are important to maintain cultural activities aimed at groups of all ages and social strata.
A cultural center or similar institution can be located in a historic building in a city, as in the case of the Casa de la Cultura de Buenos Aires "Casa de la Cultura (Buenos Aires)"), in Argentina, or it can be large with artistic exhibitions at an international level such as the Centro Cultural Universitario "Centro Cultural Universitario (Universidad de Guadalajara)") in Zapopan, Mexico and the Centro Cultural Palacio de La Moneda in Santiago, Chile. It can also belong to a network of cultural associations in the country, as is the case of Ecuador, where several Culture Houses in different cities belong to the Ecuadorian House of Culture. On some occasions, a house of culture may also be housed in small buildings, especially in smaller towns or communities.
