COBOD: Leading Global Provider of 3D Printers and BOD Technology for Construction
Corporate Profile and Global Structure
Foundational Data and Market Positioning
COBOD International A/S is a Danish organization that is a pioneer in the additive construction sector, founded in 2017 as a subsidiary of 3D Printhuset. With headquarters in Copenhagen, the company has established itself as the leading manufacturer of 3D printers for construction (BOD - Building on Demand). Under the leadership of Henrik Lund-Nielsen (General Manager) and Philip Lund-Nielsen (Co-Founder), the company has expanded its operational presence through regional centers in Miami (USA) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
Unlike other competitors, COBOD operates under a strategic shareholder model that includes industry giants such as GE Renewable Energy, PERI Group, Holcim and CEMEX. This structure allows it to integrate innovations in robotics with advances in materials science and critical infrastructure applications. In 2023, the company reported revenue of 80.8 million DKK (~11.7 million USD) and an estimated corporate valuation of 756 million USD.
The company's workforce is made up of more than 100 professionals of 25 different nationalities, focused on the development of modular hardware and control software. With more than 70 printers distributed across six inhabited continents, COBOD leads the emergence of 3DCP (3D Concrete Printing) in residential, commercial and energy infrastructure applications.
BOD2 Technology: Specifications and Modularity
Printer Architecture and Performance
COBOD's core technology is the BOD2 printer, a modular gantry system designed for in-situ concrete printing. Its truss structure allows for almost unlimited scalability in the X, Y and Z axes, with 2.5 meter increments in width and length, and print height capabilities exceeding 8 meters. This modularity facilitates the construction of multi-story buildings, allowing the print head to access any position within the working volume with complete freedom of movement.
