Climate renewal plan
Introduction
Riposte Alimentaire (Spanish for "Food Response"), formerly Dernière Rénovation ("Last Renewal"), is a French civil resistance collective created in spring 2022.
It is part of an international network of eleven climate projects called Network A22") that brings together, among others, Just Stop Oil (United Kingdom), Återställ Våtmarker (Switzerland) and Letzte Generation (Germany).
Known for its peaceful outbursts, its demand was a plan for thermal renovation of buildings until December 2023, the date on which Dernière Rénovation announced the end of its campaign, believing it had gone "at the end of what [they] could hope to earn."
On January 28, 2024, the collective launched a new campaign called Riposte Alimentaire, in order to obtain the establishment of social security for sustainable food.
Last renewal
Organization
The members of Última Renovación are registered, according to their own statements, in “an international civil resistance movement" that aims to warn, by counting the number of days, against the "climate disaster in progress."[1].
This collective is part of the A22" Civil Resistance Network, which brings together ten countries around the world, including Just Stop Oil in the United Kingdom and Letzte Generation in Germany, Austria, Canada and the United States. The name A22 refers to April 2022, the date of the first actions,[2][3][4] the main inspiration for this collective would be the controversial Roger Hallam,[5] co-founder of Extinction Rebellion.[6].
Their motto is “We will do whatever is peacefully necessary. Protect our generation and all future generations. This is our inalienable right and our most sacred duty."[7].
Although at first it only had around twenty members, in 2023 more than 200 people participated in disruptive actions.[7].
Claims
The group, emerged in 2022, highlights the government's deficiencies in the application of the Citizens' Climate Convention, which prescribed 149 actions to be implemented in France to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.[8][9][10][11].
