Civil construction is the area that encompasses professionals destined to plan, supervise and direct infrastructures carried out by the construction industry.[1]​.

The construction industry is considered important in the economic activity of a country; it also contributes cultural elements by creating iconic infrastructures that define a historical moment, a locality or a vital infrastructure. "The construction industry is the largest consumer of energy (Del Río et al., 2009) and is the second largest consumer of raw materials after the food industry (Halliday, 2008). An enormous proportion of all the materials used for the construction of works is becoming a huge deposit and, in turn, an enormous problem that is extremely difficult to eliminate for future generations (Kibert, 2007)."[2]​.

Civil construction is defined as the area that carries out the construction of an infrastructure for public or private use, urban or rural.

The construction industry can be divided into two large groups: design and execution. Giving rise to a large group of professionals, such as architects, civil engineers, construction engineers "and civil builders. Leading to many more, as is the case of technical draftsmen, or higher or university level technicians in construction"). In a simple example, such as the case of the construction of a house, the architect designs the work, the civil engineer calculates the measurements and carries out the necessary evaluation, and the civil builder builds it, the latter being the one who spends most of the time on the ground.
