Business Uniforms
Introduction
A uniform (from the Latin "uniformis") is a standardized set of clothing worn by members of an organization while participating in the organization's activity.
In religions, the use of uniforms for their active members has been common since the beginning of history. Other early examples are army uniforms, including those of the Roman Empire and other civilizations.
In the modern era, uniforms are used by the armed forces and by paramilitary organizations, such as the police. They are also common in emergency services, security guards, workplaces and schools, and among prison inmates. In some countries even other employees wear uniforms of their specialty; This is the case of the public health service of the United States or the French prefects "Prefect (authority)").
Service and work uniforms
Business and government employees in many countries often wear uniforms or corporate clothing of one kind or another. Among the professions that use them with great frequency we can mention salespeople, banks and post offices, airlines, tourism agencies, gastronomic establishments, bars, hotels, public and private health systems and many others.
The use of uniforms by these companies is generally an advertising effort and the development of a corporate image. The first service uniform, registered with a patent in the United States, under registration No. 762,884, was the Playboy bunny.
Uniforms in the century have become a necessity for companies due to the great competition they face. The use of uniforms by its employees is a way of communicating the seriousness and presence of the organization and of offering certainty and trust to its clients.
Many times the uniforms are embroidered with the institutional logo so that, at the same time, it works as brand reinforcement. Institutional colors are frequently highlighted in the colors of the uniform fabrics.
Since the second decade of the century, service and work uniforms have been improving and adapting to market trends, including innovation in work clothing incorporating systems such as LED lights to different garments, biomedical sensors or exoskeletons to facilitate the work of employees.[1].
In other words, the use of uniforms by employees helps the company to make the sale of its products or services. That is, the uniform is not only used as work clothing, but has become part of the corporate image and business marketing strategy.
