Adjudication (from Latin: adiudicatĭo, -ōnis) is a way of acquiring ownership of assets that have belonged to a community or assets that have not been auctioned in an executive trial.[1]​.

Adjudication is the way of assigning the assets that a community member has maintained as a quota owner in a community so that he becomes the exclusive owner of the right of ownership of them. Normally this process is obtained through a divisional trial or division of assets.[2]​.

The person to whom ownership of the awarded assets is transferred, who will have exclusive disposal of them, is called "adjudicator".[3]​.

In ancient Roman Law, adjudicatio was a way of acquiring the domain of civil law, which only Roman citizens had, who received ownership of something after the division of the thing in common made by a judge, generally by virtue of an inheritance (the actio familiae ercincundae between commoners and the actio finium regundorum between neighbors). by which the undivided and abstract part of each community member is transformed into a real and tangible thing, the exclusive property of each successful bidder.[6]​.
