Asset Information Modeling Platforms
Introduction
ArchiCAD, is a Building Information Modeling (BIM, Building Information Modeling) software,[1] developed by the Hungarian company Graphisoft"), available for Windows and Mac OS operating systems. It allows the user a parametric design of the elements, with a database that contains the complete life cycle of the construction, from the concept through construction and operation.
History
In 1984, the first version of ArchiCAD was launched, under the name Radar CH, whose version was sold in two parts, its 2D and 3D module; and was released only for Apple Lisa computers.
Interface
ArchiCAD The ArchiCAD interface is made up of toolbars and drop-down menus, which can be customizable according to the user's needs. It also has a project browser in which the user can view the composition of the project and its different categories.
In addition, small extensions called goodies can be added to the program that extend the functionality of ArchiCAD. These goodies are not integrated by default into the program, they have to be downloaded from the manufacturer's official site.
On the other hand, ArchiCAD offers its own language known as GDL, which is used to program parametric objects, with which the program's object base is enriched. The GDL language, similar to the Basic language. All objects created in the program use the GSM or LCF extensions.
Platforms and license types
ArchiCAD, in its latest versions, is available for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X (PowerPC), Mac OS X (Intel) operating systems.
It has commercial and educational versions, which can be installed with the same installer,[3] where you can choose the type of license.
