armor breakdown
Introduction
Armor is the name given to the structure formed by a set of linear pieces (wood or metal) assembled together, which is used to support the inclined "Roof (architecture)" roof of some buildings. The layout of the roof, with one two, three, four or more slopes, logically influences the characteristic of the reinforcement that must support it. Structurally, the reinforcements are frequently flat lattices "Lattice (engineering)"), although there are other types of reinforcements that are not latticework.
The first section explains how the different pieces of the armor are organized to withstand tensile and compression forces. Below are some types of armor, each case characterizing the way in which the different pieces are placed or assembled together.
Parts that make up the armor of a deck
In the reinforcement of a roof, the "knives" are distinguished, formed by a set of pieces located in a vertical plane so that the light of the building can be saved, and which serves to support other pieces located in the plane of the roof skirts.
The knives are basically made up of two inclined pieces (called pairs) that join at the ridge and rest on the side walls. The two lower ends of the two pairs are joined by a third piece called a brace. When the width that the knife must cover is large, another piece (the pendulum) is usually provided that joins the upper meeting of the two pairs with the midpoint of the strap.
In the plane of the skirts, the ridge or ridge beam is located, which joins the upper points of the knives, the race located under the lower ends of the pairs, so that this is where the knives really rest, the race is also called parhilera and sleeper; By joining some knives with others at regular spaces along each pair, the straps are placed, and perpendicular to them, and therefore also to the building's enclosures, they load the rafters. On top of these are placed a wooden plank, sometimes called canning, which directly supports the tiles or cover plates.
The steel bars that are placed inside the reinforced concrete to complete its load-bearing capacity are also called reinforcement.
Different types of deck armor
Taking into account the way in which the pieces that make up the armor are organized, the following types are distinguished:
