Architecture as strategy
Introduction
Passive design strategies, called by other authors as Passive Design Guidelines, or passive solar design, are part of the design methodology implemented by bioclimatic architecture and sustainable architecture. These strategies are not for general use and must be adapted to each particular condition and site where a bioclimatic building is to be built or designed.
Historical review
Although there are previous texts that use the adjective Passive to describe a type of construction adapted to the climate of the place that takes advantage of natural resources (soil, orography, sun, temperature and humidity, winds, etc.); It is in the book published in 1979 by Architect Edward Mazria, called The Book of Passive Solar Energy where these concepts and design procedures are synthesized and made explicit.
