Architecture and Design Magazines
Introduction
Architectural Record is an American monthly magazine dedicated to architecture and interior design, belonging to the McGraw Hill Construction publishing group. Its editorial offices are located in Manhattan. It has been published since 1891. It is a magazine aimed at architectural professionals and engineers, but through its different sections, in which there are specialized articles as well as articles with cutting-edge designs, it also focuses on a non-expert audience.
It is a publication that has a close relationship with the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and proof of this are the continuing education sections run by the AIA proposed in both the printed version of Architectural Record and the digital one.[1].
The quality of its articles has been recognized since its origins, while it can be considered a pioneer in the publication of the work of professionals and groups that have subsequently been very prominent in their field, such as the publication of an article in 1910 referring to the Cubists.
The magazine has an award that rewards young architects considered talented. This award is called Architectural Record: Design Award, and among the winners are Alejandro Aravena[2] and Tatiana Bilbao. Likewise, it also delivers the Architectural Record: Products award, subdivided into recognitions for different construction products.[3] Since 2014, it has delivered the Women in Architecture Forum & Awards, to promote leadership in the field of architecture.[4].
