Advanced global coordination
Introduction
The Comprehensive Digital Care Service (CGA) of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centers is responsible for managing the network of public educational centers in Andalusia (Network of ICT centers).
This network has more than 4,500 educational centers integrated into the same network that are managed centrally from the CGA using free software.
The CGA is part of the Department of Education of the Government of Andalusia. Since 2014 it depends on the Andalusian Public Agency for Education (APAE).
The CGA headquarters is located in the Centris 2 Building, in the town of Tomares (formerly located on Santo Domingo de Guzmán Street, in San Juan de Aznalfarache), province of Seville.
With the aim of isolating the technical problems implicit in the use of ICT and allowing users to develop and improve teaching activity, the CGA was created, which centralizes attention to all the centers in the network and generates solutions adapted to the needs of Andalusian teachers and students.
The specific purpose of the CGA is to make the educational community enjoy and use new technologies based on free software without worrying about the administration, maintenance and configuration of computer elements, and without the need to possess advanced technical knowledge.
The CGA is currently made up of a team of 50 people that has evolved and adapted according to the needs of educational centers, and that currently manages, administers and supports the largest educational network of computer equipment in the world based on Free Software.
ICT in educational centers are used as another tool for the development of teaching work, helping teachers in their daily activity. Learn using the computer.
Its latest most notable developments are the new version of the educational distribution Guadalinex Edu, Guadalinex Edu Next, published in December 2016, and the Resource Management Tool (HGR) that centralizes and unifies in a single application utilities previously distributed in SIGALA, CRV and ItalC, the latter three disappearing. Applications such as Gesuser 3 that allows users to be managed at educational centers, and other useful applications for the center itself, such as BiblioWeb, a web application that allows the user to consult the catalog of items in their educational center's library in addition to obtaining information from both the library and the educational center itself, are examples of applications developed entirely by the CGA. There is also a renewed Personal User System for Guadalinex Edu 2013, which unifies the previous profiles into a single profile and adapts to the new ICT infrastructures of Andalusian educational centers.
