The fact of joining the Knowledge Society is as important as the way in which this incorporation occurs. For this reason, we have chosen to implement free software, with the Guadalinex Edu distribution, which means joining in freedom and equality, in a supportive and cooperative manner.

The Network of ICT Centers, the result of the work of the Andalusian public administration, began in 1985 with the Alhambra Plan. The graph shows the different projects undertaken in Andalusia until reaching the Andared Project, to which the Network of ICT Centers belongs.

When the CGA began its activity, it had 100 educational centers and 16,165 PCs. Both the number of centers and the number of computers have increased considerably until today, serving more than 4,000 educational centers in Andalusia and more than 750,000 PCs.

During these years, the CGA has been adapting both in number of workers, tools and its own software developments to the new dimensions and demands.

Since the beginning of its activity, the CGA has used and created different tools and applications. Among the most notable we find:

For the educational environment, the CGA constantly creates and adapts applications that are used in classrooms for Guadalinex Edu distribution, such as:

Likewise, more applications have been developed to provide information and to be used in the educational field to support teaching activity.

The structure of the organization is designed by the Directorate of Equipment, Logistics and Technologies of the Andalusian Public Agency for Education, a public business agency attached to the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Government of Andalusia.

Since the creation of the CGA, the departments and areas that make up the institution have been modified, in order to adapt to new needs, both internal and those that arise in educational centers. The current winning company is Isotrol.

Currently the project is made up of 4 areas that encompass the different departments, divided according to the work to be performed:.

Global Coordination: it is the main area of ​​the CGA. He serves as Project Manager and is responsible for globally coordinating both technical tasks and those related to the assigned personnel. The global coordinator (Project Manager) is proposed by the company awarded the service and endorsed by the Service Manager of the Andalusian Public Agency for Education. Among its tasks is coordination and continuous communication with those responsible for the APAE Contract.

Development Area: carries out the development of all software dependent on the CGA. Two departments are included within it:

Control Area: is responsible for carrying out control over the IT infrastructure of both the CGA and the educational centers. Undertakes security, capacity, change control and release tasks to ensure the proper functioning of the work carried out at all times. It houses three departments:

Support Area: its main function is to respond to queries from educational centers, as well as the management, supervision and surveillance of maintenance contracts under the supervision of the Education Agency. It maintains continuous contact with educational centers and with the Center for Attention to Users of the Educational Community (CAUCE). Its functions are carried out by three departments:.

It is the network of public educational centers of the Junta de Andalucía. It is currently made up of more than 4,000 centers, in the same network, managed centrally entirely with free software.

All ICT centers are integrated into the same network, the Corporate Network of the Junta de Andalucía (RCJA) of which the rest of the Andalusian public organizations (external to the ICT network) are also part. In 2009 all educational centers became ICT 2.0 School Centers.

The centralized management of the network of ICT centers and ICT 2.0 School is carried out by the CGA.

In each ICT center, one computer was distributed for every two students and complementary provisions of personal systems for teachers, administrative services, the library, the center management and the parents' associations. The equipment was completed with educational and security content servers, as well as other network services.

The Digital Agenda for Spain establishes the priority lines of action in the ICT sector as levers of transformation towards a more efficient, innovative, competitive and internationalized economy. The Agenda contemplates the development of Digital Public Services as an instrument to improve the quality of services provided by Online Public Administrations. This line includes actions aimed at extending the use and implementation of ICT in the educational field.

This initiative, launched thanks to the agreement signed between the Regional Government of Andalusia, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports and the Public Business Entity Red.es, will be promoted in Andalusia by the Ministry of Education for the extension of access to ultra-fast broadband in public primary and secondary teaching centres.

The actions to be carried out in the teaching centers are the following:

To comply with the objectives of the Collaboration Agreement, the Red.es entity awarded TELEFÓNICA DE ESPAÑA, S.A.U., on November 16, 2016, the supply and services contract, entitled “Escuelas Conectadas Andalucía” (Exp: 76/16-SV)". This contract aims to provide ultra-fast broadband connectivity of 1 Gbps and internal connectivity (WiFi) in all Andalusian primary and secondary schools supported by public funds.

The number of educational centers where the solution can be deployed is 3,336, but it includes variations in the final number in case newly built educational centers are incorporated. In the contract, the following milestones for achieving the deployment have been established:

As of January 19, 2018, the scope of educational centers was expanded to 3,352 with 18.8% of them having the solution already deployed.

On June 19, 2018, the Government Council agrees to begin the preparation of the Andalusian Digital Education Strategy, which will expand and reinforce the measures to adapt the educational system to technological development under conditions of equity.

In line with the Europe 2020 Strategy and the Andalusian Innovation Strategy 2020 (RIS3 Andalusia), the new planning will be based on four main objectives:
