Acoustic stress study
Introduction
Noise control is made up of that set of measures (both at the regulatory level and at the engineering level and its application) that have the general objective of ensuring acceptable noise levels according to current legislation in any of the areas of society.
Preamble
In today's societies, noise pollution is becoming an issue that generates great awareness. There are increasingly more and more detailed scientific reports that alert us to the danger of being subjected to working conditions with high sound pressure levels. These studies have been extending their focus to situations of more moderate acoustic stress such as daily living conditions in a large city. These studies have greatly helped to generate this awareness in government institutions that are being translated into laws, regulations and ordinances.
Areas of action
The creation of this regulatory framework and its subsequent application and inspection is causing an important awareness in all sectors of society, both in the business, leisure and domestic spheres. This awareness is driving noise control in three main ways:
I. Architectural scope: The Technical Building Code serves as a basic guide in this field and tries to define reasonable technical conditions within the field of architecture.
II. Work environment: Within the work environment and especially in those especially noisy environments, regulations have been emerging regarding the maximum level of noise that human beings can tolerate without harm to their health. In those special cases in which the noise level exceeds these levels, the protective and/or corrective measures must be implemented.
III. Scope of application of current regulations: This involves verifying that current regulations are being complied with in the different areas where they apply.
It is this last point that is largely helping the regulations, with greater or lesser deficiencies, to prevail and begin to reap their benefits.
