An abrasive saw, also known as a chop saw or chop saw, is a circular saw (a type of power tool) commonly used to cut hard materials, such as metals, tiles, and concrete. The cut is made using an abrasive disc, similar to a fine grinding wheel. Technically speaking, it is not a saw, since the "saw blades" that are regularly used for cutting are abrasive discs without teeth.[1]​.

Since their introduction, portable chop saws have made many jobs on construction sites easier. With these saws, the assembly of light steel or corrugated steel structures that was previously carried out in workshops with stationary electric band saws or cold cutting saws can be done on site. Abrasive saws have replaced the more expensive and dangerous acetylene cutting torches in many applications, such as cutting rebar. Additionally, these saws allow construction workers to cut concrete, asphalt, and pipes on the job site with greater precision than with heavy equipment.[2]​.

These saws are available in several configurations, including benchtop, handheld, and walk-behind models.[2]​.
