ABNT Brazil
Introduction
The Brazilian Technical Standards Association (in Portuguese Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas - ABNT), is the regulatory body responsible for technical standards in Brazil, and attempts to promote technological development in the country. It is a non-profit organization founded on September 28, 1940,[1] together with the Foro Nacional de Normalização&action=edit&redlink=1 "Foro Nacional de Normalização (Brazil) (not yet written)").
It is a founding member of the International Organization for Standardization, the Pan American Commission for Technical Standards and the Mercosur Standardization Association.
The ABNT is the exclusive representative of Brazil in international organizations in the International Organization for Standardization[2] and the International Electrotechnical Commission,[3] as well as in the Pan American Commission for Technical Standards[4] and the Mercosur Standardization Association.
